Expected outcome
Conservation of Estuarine Spoon Seagrass Halophia beccraii in Bakkhali Esturay, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh
The expected outcome of the project was to establish the first baseline ecological data and monitoring framework for Halophila beccarii in the Bakkhali Estuary, enabling local conservationists to map seagrass distribution, assess habitat health, and identify primary anthropogenic threats. By raising awareness of the seagrass bed's vital role in stabilizing sediments, nutrient cycling, and serving as a critical nursery and feeding ground for fish, turtles, and migratory birds, the project aimed to pave the way for formal marine protection strategies, sustainable fisheries management, and long-term conservation policies in coastal Bangladesh.
